Join us at the Eggares Olive Press Museum, one of Naxos’s oldest remaining olive mills, for a specially designed family experience. Travel back in time to Ancient Greece and explore the significance of olive oil and the sacredness of the olive tree through the myth of Athena and Poseidon. Discover the fascinating history of Athens and how Athena became the protector of the city, and learn whether she fought with her shield or her wisdom. This is just the beginning of our adventure.
After our museum tour and interactive games, it’s time for some hands-on fun in our beautiful garden. We’ll become real farmers and plant our very own vegetables. Then, we’ll create a fresh and delicious salad using traditional Naxian olive oil. Just be careful not to overdo it with the bread dips!
Next, we’ll discover the games children played in Ancient Greece. Many of these games have funny and unique names that have been passed down through the ages. Are you ready to play and earn your own “kotinos” (olive wreath) in our very own Naxian Olympic games? Remember, in our experience, everyone is a winner!
Finally, it’s time to relax and get creative. We’ll use oil colors and brushes to create our own unique masterpiece on a burlap canvas. Fun fact: burlap is the material traditionally used for olive picking.
We can’t wait to meet you and create unforgettable memories together!
