Do you yearn to explore an area of extreme beauty? Then this hike is perfect for you. Starting from the renowned traditional village of Apeiranthos, we’ll trek down the old mule trail that leads to the emery mines. The forested area is full of oak and maple trees, and we’ll visit two significant churches, Agios Ioannis Theologos and Agia Kyriaki, which are excellent examples of Byzantine architecture and rare aniconic frescoes. As we near the bridge, the landscape becomes increasingly rugged, adding to the hike’s geological and geomorphological interest. On our way back to the village, we’ll cross a fertile piece of land filled with olive groves and vineyards. Additionally, a guided tour of the famous “marble village” of Apeiranthos is available for sightseeing. The hike is moderate to demanding and lasts for six hours, plus driving time of two hours. The distance covered is 10.5 km, and the technical details include an elevation gain of 499m, an elevation loss of -499m, a maximum inclination of 25.6% (asc.) -25.7% (desc.), and an average inclination of 8.4% (asc.) -8.7% (desc.).
